What is Veduta?
Veduta wants to take art and music outside. To the streets, squares, parks, and other public spaces. Culture can be the occasion to connect people, and do so in a place that belongs to everyone. We want to show that public space is for everyone, and can be the ideal meeting place for a broad audience. We currently do this by organizing our neighborhood festival Nomadic twice a year: once in Brussels, and once in Leuven.
History
Veduta emerged from two non-profits, GROEF and Moodprint. While GROEF took art out of its typical context and made it accessible to a broader audience, Moodprint focused on high-quality exhibitions and bringing disciplines together. Veduta builds on GROEF’s accessibility and Moodprint’s artistic depth, creating an organization that combines artistic quality and inclusiveness.
That this is a success is largely a credit to our team of volunteers. Veduta consists of eight enthusiastic volunteers, each with their area of expertise (communication, production, art handling, heritage, art in public spaces, talent development, etc…).
Activities
We have done much more in the past, from exhibitions to club nights and more. We already worked out projects with STUK Leuven, Beursschouwburg, LaVallée, Museum M, and& festival, Stelplaats, AuKalme, Face B, and community centers De Markten and Tour à Plomb. After organizing more than 30 events with more than a hundred artists, in 2024 we decided to focus solely on Nomadic and organize this unique concept twice a year: once in Brussels and once in Leuven.
We also have our monthly radio show on Kiosk Radio, offering a platform to young artists.
Support
Since we do not receive structural funding, we work with project subsidies. Our projects are supported by the Brussels Capital Region, the Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie, the City of Brussels, and the City of Leuven. We are always open to new partners to strengthen culture together in the public space.
