Nomadic is a biannual social art project organized by vzw/asbl Veduta, which brings together artists, musicians, and cultural organisations with residents, merchants, social initiatives, and institutions around a specific neighbourhood.

What is Nomadic?
Nomadic starts from what is already present in a given neighbourhood. Artists are invited to work around the notions of public & private space, creating a site-specific exhibition throughout the neighbourhood’s streets, squares, facades, and inside its bars and shops. We want to show that public space is for everyone, and can be the ideal meeting place for a broad audience. We currently organize our neighborhood festival Nomadic twice a year: once in Brussels, and once in Leuven.
Program
Each edition is paired with an activation program, celebrating local space by initiating concerts, performances, screenings, workshops, and more. We organize our own vernissage with performance and music, and increasingly involve various (socio-)cultural organizations to set up activities together. This collaborative approach connects local associations with institutions and cultural centres.
Doing so, Nomadic aims to create genuine connections between locals and artists by bringing art outside of its conventional boundaries and into the public. We hope to reflect on how we can share space, sparking a dialogue with the neighbourhood.
During these events, we program a combination of local, emerging talent on one hand, and established artists within their respective art disciplines on the other. In this way, Nomadic functions as a learning opportunity for the artists involved. Now that Nomadic has already had several editions, we notice that artists benefit greatly from such trajectories. The accessibility of Nomadic as a concept combined with professional support, is essential. We encourage artists to use their creative freedom as much as possible, while providing them with the guidance needed to put their ideas into practice.
About us
Veduta wants to take art and music outside. To the streets, squares, parks, and other public spaces. Culture can be the occasion to connect people, and do so in a place that belongs to everyone. We consist of eight enthusiastic volunteers, each with their area of expertise (communication, production, art handling, heritage, art in public spaces, talent development, etc…).
